Promoting an Upcoming Television Appearance

Chesapeake Closets: Provides custom cabinetry and closets for clients throughout Maryland. The company has a sharp focus on customer service and outstanding craftsmanship.

Situation Analysis:  In the summer of 2008, Chesapeake Closets had the unique opportunity to donate their time and expertise to “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” the hit ABC television show that builds a home in just one week for a needy family. Prior to the airing of the program, Chesapeake Closets CEO Steve Black knew he had a story on his hands, and wanted to make a splash in his local market.

Strategy:  The PR team developed a press release announcing Chesapeake Closets’ participation on the show, detailing the scope of this unusual project from the company’s perspective. With the release in hand, the team then built a customized media list of local and regional print, TV and radio outlets. In the weeks prior to the show, the PR team lined up a series of interviews with local reporters.

Results: Live, in-studio segment with ABC2 News in Baltimore, feature story in Baltimore Examiner, feature story in Baltimore Jewish Times
